I came across a blog -- http://lastsexofanhiv.blogspot.com -- that posted photos of guys who are allegedly HIV positive. The pics were taken from the guys' profiles in a gay social networking site called Planetromeo. Planetromeo is infamous for being a venue for searching for quick sex. It took over www.guys4men.com a few years ago.
Anyway, the anonymous blogger had explained that he came out with the blog to warn other gay guys in the metro against having sex with those whose pics he posted as they are allegedly HIV positive.
First off, the blog is a violation of Republic Act (RA) 8504 or The Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 1998, which prohibits public disclosure of the identities of persons living with HIV (PLHIV) - whether alleged or confirmed.
I worry about the guys whose pics are in the blog, more particularly for members of their family who may read or see the blog. True or not, the accusation can emotionally affect not only the guys but their families as well.
The Philippine National Aids Council (PNAC), cause-oriented groups and influential individuals have already been informed about the blog and efforts are being made to have it taken down.
As of this writing, the blog is still up and I hope it is deleted as soon as possible before it causes more harm not only to the persons whose pics have been posted there but to their families also.
well maybe , but can u blame him????? pos should disclose their hiv status, then the other party will decide to proceed or not, one blogger just did the same, those who got the virus under the same circumstance ( not told about their pos status ) how do u feel???? the blogger probably is thinking of the GREATER GOOD , the good of the majority/ society which overrides any right of privacy, hence you cannot invoke that right nor will it stand in court ( that is disclosing hiv status to prevent the spread of a deadly disease ). WHETHER those he posted are pos or not , thats another story
ReplyDeleteforgot to mention, the premise of right of privacy is to prevent discrimination of hiv pos people, it was not made TO PROMOTE the spread of hiv under the guise of anonymity

ReplyDeletei respect your opinion but i still stand by what i said.
especially sa mga MSM's (men having-sex with men), If you are having unprotected sex with someone, you would be wise to assume that the other person has HIV or other STIs, and be prepared to deal with the consequences of unprotected sex (one of that consequence is having HIV). KAYA KUNG MAHAWAAN KA MAN, WALANG IBANG DAPAT SISIHIN KUNDI SARILI MO.
ReplyDeleteAng blog na 'lastsexofanhiv' ay pure bullshit. At sa mga tao na patuloy ang pagcondemn sa mga HIV+ pero sige parin sa pakikipagsex pero ignorant naman about HIV at patuloy sa pagreject sa fact na MERON HIV EPIDEMIC, u can be the next...
Ang blog na 'lastsexofanhiv' IS NOT INFORMATIVE AT ALL at lalo lamang pinalalaganap ang widescale ignorance about sa sakit.

Totally agree. Di lahat ng PLHIV mga irresponsible at naghahasik ng lagim. Most di naman ginusto magkaroon nito. Yes, there are those na parang baliw na go pa rin nang go sa casual sex kahit alam nilang may STI sila (HIV infection or others). In fact sa UK or US kinukulong ang mga ganito eh. Pero sa mga PLHIV na namumuhay nang mapayapa, na gusto lang mabuhay pa nang matagal - they still have the complete and impartial rights of a human being. They have the right to be protected against any form of discrimination.
